Hope

Matthew 2:1-2

Today, we enter a time of remembering the hope that comes from Jesus. For generations, people waited for someone to fulfill God’s promise to rescue His people from the world. The wisemen were among the people waiting. With hopeful expectation, they waited for and recognized the star as part of the Lord’s promise (Numbers 24:17), so they followed it for hundreds of miles. A journey that may have taken months was fueled by hope in who this King of the Jews would be and what He would offer. The long-awaited Messiah was born!

This newborn King not only offered hope to the wisemen and to people for centuries before His coming, but He is where our hope still comes from today. Without knowing who He would be or what He would offer, the wisemen humbly came to worship the infant Jesus. Knowing what Jesus has done for us on the cross, we come to Him humbly, too. No matter the barriers we may face, like the wisemen, Jesus deserves our worship and praise.

Prayer:

Father, thank you for the hope you offer through the birth of your Son. Help me to seek and worship Him in all that I do.

Question to consider:

What can you do today to remember the hope that our Savior Jesus gives?
