Who We Are

Our Vision and Mission

Our mission answers two questions: Why do we exist? and What are we ultimately trying to accomplish?

It expresses the Great Commission in language that fits our church, our city, and our people. It is the flag we fly, the rallying point that unites us, and the standard by which we evaluate everything we do.

Doxa Church exists to share the gospel and our lives for the glory of God and the good of Madison.

OUR RHYTMS: Gather, GROUP, Give, and Go

Our mission tells us why we exist. Gather, Group, Give, and Go describes how we live out that mission together.

These four rhythms define what commitment looks like at Doxa. We believe that as our people faithfully embrace these rhythms over the long haul, God will produce lasting gospel fruit in Madison.

Everything we do as a church should support one or more of these rhythms. They shape our ministries, guide our priorities, and provide the framework for how we equip disciples and develop leaders.

Gather
The church is, first and foremost, a gathered people. God has reconciled us to Himself through the gospel and calls us to gather regularly as His church.

We gather on Sundays to worship God through His Word—to hear it preached, sing it, pray it, and encourage one another with it. Throughout the week, we continue sharing our lives together in community.

We also gather with a mission in mind. Every gathering is an opportunity to invite others to encounter the hope of the gospel. As we faithfully gather around Christ, God is glorified, His people are strengthened, and our city is engaged.

Group
The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone. We grow best when we share our lives with one another.

Groups are where the gospel moves from rows to relationships. They are the primary place where we know and are known, care and are cared for, confess sin, pray together, bear one another's burdens, and encourage one another to follow Jesus. As we open our homes and our lives, we become the family God has called and Jesus saved us to be.

Give
Sharing the gospel and our lives requires generosity.

Everything we have—our time, talents, and treasure—has been entrusted to us by God. We respond by joyfully giving ourselves away for His glory and the good of others. We serve the church with our gifts, invest our time in people, and give financially to fuel the mission.

Our generosity doesn't stop within the church. It overflows into our city so that the people of Madison experience the love, compassion, and generosity of Jesus through us.

Go
The church doesn't exist for itself. We exist for the glory of God and the good of Madison.

Every follower of Jesus is sent. We go with the gospel into our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and campuses. We plant churches in other college towns and send teams to the nations so that more people can hear and believe the good news of Jesus.

Going isn't a special event—it's our way of life. We expect to celebrate many gospel hellos and many gospel goodbyes as we raise up and send men and women to make disciples wherever God calls them.

Our History

Doxa Church began as a dream in 2016—a vision to plant a gospel-centered church in Madison that would make disciples, develop leaders, and plant churches.

After two years of training and preparation at Cornerstone Church in Ames, Iowa, Doxa was sent by the Salt Network and the North American Mission Board to Madison, where we launched in the fall of 2018.

Since then, God has been abundantly faithful. In 2020, we purchased and moved into our first permanent home. In 2022, we sent our first church plants to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Osaka, Japan. Then, in 2025, we planted Ambassador Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin—our third church plant and second national plant.

We're grateful for what God has done, but we're even more excited about what's ahead. Our prayer is to continue making disciples, raising up leaders, planting churches, and sending people wherever God calls.

The Salt Network

Doxa Church is a member of the Salt Network, a family of churches committed to reaching university cities by planting and strengthening healthy, gospel-centered churches across North America and beyond.

We believe the local church is God's primary means of making disciples and transforming communities. That's why church planting is at the heart of who we are. Together with the Salt Network and the North American Mission Board, we're working to see more churches planted, more leaders developed, and more people reached with the gospel throughout Wisconsin and around the world.
